Putting up coat hooks on crumbly lathe plaster walls

Hoping any DIY experts might be able tot help. I have put coat hooks up in our utility room in our old cottage. I have just put normal rawl plugs in and they've come away twice now, bringing a load of old crumbly plaster with it. The plugs went into the stone underneath, so weren't just in the plaster alone. Can I get really long rawl plugs? Or something else?

Are they individual coat hooks? You need to spread the load, ie fixing them to a piece of wood then screwing the wood to the wall - ideally to the upright studs the laths are attached to, if you can find them. If they're individual hooks then there will be a huge load on the fixings every time someone hangs up a coat.
