where to get seating bench with storage

Any ideas from where can I get a bench which has upholstered top to sit and a storage below, preferably as drawers. I looked at IKEA Stuva bench but that looks a bit childish.

I have been looking for one for our hall for ages, so let me know if you find one! The only place that has anything remotely similar to what I want is this from The Dormy House

I've just ordered a bench from Cotswold Furniture. Can't seem to link it, but it's easy to find on Google

We found one on eBay, the guy makes them we wanted a monks bench with a cupboard below and a shelf across in the cupboard, it came ready to paint and was cheaper than any others we looked at.
It was very much like this one but this has a seat that lifts.

Could you buy the right shape/size storage and then upholster it yourself? I bought an IKEA Hol, attached a thin piece of chipboard on the top (just because it has holes) then upholstered it myself with upholstery foam, fabric and a hired staple gun.

We had one built by our building to cover some pipes.MDF painted. It was a window seat with a removable lid. Meant to have a big cushioned top but never got round to it.
Brilliant for storage & extra seating by the table.

haggardoldwitch · 04/03/2015 17:49

Built by our builder even.

I've been looking for something similar but not find anything that quite meets our requirements yet. Dunelm mill do have a few that might be worth you looking at:

I have this from GLTC - but it was on offer so a fair bit cheaper than this.

A few here

We got ours from Myakka.co.uk, they do lovely stuff.

cathpip · 04/03/2015 21:28

eBay, I wanted one but it had to be specific dimensions. Found a chap who could make one to precisely the speck I wanted.

Ziggyzoom · 04/03/2015 21:38

We got one made to measure from here. It came painted in a Farrow and Ball colour of our choice and was the same price as ready made ones. We've had it a couple of years now and it still looks fab.

I don't know whether they do cushions though.

I am not a diy person at all but put 'mommy vignettes ikea' into google and there is really easy instructions on cusromising an ikea expedia cabinet into a bench seat. Youcan choose the material to match your room.

YoureMyWifeNowDave · 05/03/2015 08:41

We got ours from Myakka too, they are quite expensive but lovely quality

We have a large bay window and have put a combination of www.myakka.co.uk/product/mallani_storage_seat and www.myakka.co.uk/product/mallani_enclosed_storage_seat round

vikkiroberts84 · 05/03/2015 10:42

I brought mine from here www.decur.co.uk/upholstery.html after seeing them on 60 minute makeover. They offer storage and you can choose from fabrics and colours which is a bonus...good luck!

Thanks all. Lots of good ideas and places to look at. May be I can get one of the benches and upholser it myself. I have seen some fabrics in IKEA.
