Is one white kitchen paint as good as any other? How about Once?

A fantastically boring thread - even by my standards - but I'm painting my kitchen ceiling. So looking for white matt kitchen paint. Are there any drawbacks to using Once paint? Any any recs for brands to go for or avoid?

It's 'Twice' not 'Once' or 'Fucking Bastarding lying cunt" in this house Hmm

It's still better than 3 times which is every other pale paint if you're covering anything darker than Mushroom.

I'm not even slagging it off, I use it every time.

Honeydragon · 03/03/2015 23:49

I like Crown, and usually get away with one coat on the ceiling.

Devora · 04/03/2015 00:18

Grin Grin LaurieFairyCake, I shall always think of it as cunt paint from now on.

Thanks both for recommendations.

Try Clean Extreme from Crown, does what it says on the tin Grin wipe clean and I love it Smile

NotLoveActually · 04/03/2015 03:03

^^ ah, just saw it's for the ceiling, so unless you plan on throwing the kids up there to draw on it, just use normal emulsion. As you were.

Devora · 04/03/2015 22:19

NotLoveActually, my youngest has developed a thing for writing 'ham' wherever and whenever she can. Including on the bedsheets. And then denying it was her. I may well need a cleanable ceiling.

You have a thread about white paint Hmm

Devora · 04/03/2015 22:40

Busted!

We don't often see you round these parts, Kew. But, you know, if you fancy a thread about the tester pots painted on your chimney breast, I'm game Grin

OP posts:

They aren't tester pots - they are 14 coats of Frothy Latte which still doesn't cover up sodding bastarding gloss burgundy that previous owners left me.

They just LOOK like I've dabbed on a few tester posts rather than painted on half a VAt of paint.

I'm going to wall paper it.

Devora · 04/03/2015 23:09

Whoops, I spoke out of turn there!

Wallpaper sounds good!

I recommend a cleanable ceiling Grin ......

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 05/03/2015 11:09

But Once is overpriced imo as you definitely need two coats

Kewcumber · 05/03/2015 11:36

But I don't want wallpaper I want frothy latte.

Nice man in DIY shop tells me I need to sand surface of gloss off. Right then....

Just paint on a decent undercoat half way competently and slap on any old white trade paint btw.

Devora · 05/03/2015 21:45

Can't you just paste on lining paper and paint it frothy latte?

Or surely there's a specialist primer you can use?

OP posts:
Kewcumber · 06/03/2015 10:35

Yes you could just paste on lining paper, let me know when you're free (grumpy that you thought of that and I didn't)

Apparently the special primer is a mare to paint with in an extended area according to my man in DIY shop

Devora · 06/03/2015 12:37

If it makes you feel better, I've just painted my front door ENTIRELY the wrong colour. I used F&B Bone, inspired by a friend whose door is a beautiful pale greige. Only, her front door is south-facing and mine is north-facing and it's come out that weird greeny-brown colour that babies' poo turns to when they're about a week old.

Kewcumber · 06/03/2015 15:34

It does make me feel better, you're right.

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 09/03/2015 11:58

Bunch of virtual flowers for naming the new colour Grin
