House viewings and cat litter trays

House just on the market and viewings already arranged. We have 3 cats and 2 covered litter trays. They are in the bathroom.

What do I do with them for viewings? Is it essential to hide them or is it OK as long as they are freshly clean?

We put ours out in the greenhouse for the viewings. Didn't want to risk the cats doing the inevitable just before a non pet loving prospective purchaser arrived.

We sold at the end of last year and also have three (house) cats with two covered litter trays.

When we first put the house on the market one of the trays was in the utility and the other in the (large, former bedroom) ensuite bathroom. After the first couple of viewings we relegated the cats to DH's office in the attic - where there were also two bedrooms with the office sandwiched between the two - and their litter trays went too! They (litter trays, not cats, lol!) were tucked away behind the desk.

We accepted an offer after five viewings and there was no negative feedback relating to litter tray smells etc.

If you have house cats, their trays have to go somewhere - I guess you could put them in a shed/greenhouse/other outbuilding if you have one - we did shut cats and trays into a conservatory at a previous house, which was fine till the bloody EA left a door open and one of the cats escaped......

I like cats but not litter trays - but I'd assume you'd be taking them when you move so as long as the place clean, I wouldn't care.

I would put them outside. Our cat doesn't have a litter tray and I hate them. I might find it s big off-putting TBH.

I can't imagine why anyone would care so long as they were clean and non-smelly.

We sold at the end of last year and we have 3 cats and a litter tray for the kitten. Our cats are also friendly and likely to harrass visitors. So the litter trays were packed away and the cats were boxed up and went for a drive in the car with me while viewings took place.

I'd remove cats and trays from the house for viewings. Not everyone likes them, and that's a good enough reason.

catbasilio why can't you leave the cat unattended in a cat basket for 15 mins?

People remove the cat from the house for viewings? Really? Are there people in this world who base their property-buying decisions on the historical chance of a cat once living there?

I'm imagining an army of cat-phobic house-buyers worrying whether there really was no cat or the owner has hidden it in the car now. How would you ever get over the panic?
