Wide fit stair gate needed

Toribell · 28/02/2015 16:05

Does anyone know a good brand for a wide fit stair gate? It would have to span min 127 cm and be under 74 cm high. Safe tots seem to do one that has extending panels but I think it is 75cm tall and would not fit under our bannister at the top of the stairs. Does anyone have the safe tots one who could measure the height?

Any help appreciated.

We've got two that are like blinds - one is a roller blind type one from Jojo and one is like plastic slats from John Lewis. Our bannister is inconveniently low so they are fixed on the outside of the stairs if that makes sense.

Be aware that the Jojo one isn't massively secure in the bracket, it needs wedging in. DD managed to pull it off and fall down the stairs!

We bought an ikea one as our stairs are very wide. The instructions are complicated but we built it 6 years ago and it is still managing to outwit our kids in particular the curious 2 year old.

We've got he roller blind ones and they're amazing! Can't remember make but they're fab. Google roller blind stair gates! Best thing about them is they're almost adult proof when you're kids are older and you don't won't anyone up the stairs you just shut them! Point is they extend beyond the normal stair opening.

We just put a bit of wood between the stairgste thing that you tighten against the wall, and the wall, each side. There was a bit of a gap, but not nearlyvenough for a toddler to get through.
