Help flat/pitched roof extension?

Budget wise would it be cheaper to have a flat roofed extension with sky lights or stick to the original plan of a pitched roof? The budget is spiralling out control and we haven't even started yet.

It would be cheaper but flat roofs fail more quickly.

Def pitched roof.

Get the build right & worry about aesthetics as & when you can afford.

I didn't think that there was much difference in cost? We went for pitched....

Thank you my husband has it in his head that changing the plans to a flat will knock thousands off the build.
