Sturdy toilet seats with corrosion-proof hinges.

Can anyone recommend some that can stand up to all the damage that small boys with seemingly poor aims can do!

We moved into a house a year ago and replaced all the toilet seats with new ones. On two of them - the ones used by the Dcs - the hinges have corroded and sheared. Both were from B&Q - one very cheap indeed, the other mid-price.

Would I be better off with something from a bathroom supplier rather than a DIY store?

watching with urgent interest...

yes - go to a proper bathroom supplier - I've never had to throw out toilet seats due to those problems! You may need to pay £50 + a seat but mine have lasted for well over 10 years..................

You need stainless steel, but also check what the hinges are attached with.

Who is good in terms of bathroom suppliers?

Loo seats in previous bathrooms have been from the Bathstore, but I keep reading horror stories about them?

www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/8331616.htm - we have this one and as there are no metal parts there is nothing to corrode

FunMitFlags · 26/02/2015 17:51

That would look really out of place here, but I appreciate the suggestion.

Any other ideas?

i've got through tons of loo seats with this problem. in the end someone suggested a slow close seat where the hinges are better and touch wood (loo) seat it's lasted.

Subbing!!!

JoanHickson · 26/02/2015 20:07

I thought it was fat arse. So others go through loo seats loads too?

dementedpixie · 26/02/2015 20:13

our longest lasting one has been the cheapest one we got. Similar to this Argos one:

We have this problem(boys'piss causing rusty pissy marks).

I don't have boys but have to say that I've found an ikea toilet seat (can't remember the name but it's not expensive) to be the best. Plastic fittings/easy to adjust position and strudy compared to lots I've had in the past.

Our Next one seems ok, it's one of the patterned ones from a few years ago, the ones they sell now are probably similar though
