Area of North Shields advice

Hello
Following on from my post a couple of weeks ago re areas to live in Newcastle, I think I am decided on North shields.

I have found a property I like in the Lovaine Place West/West Percy Road/Brannen Street area.

It is close to the metro station which is one of my priorities but can anyone tell me anything about this area in particular? It's further than Tynemouth fringe than I would have liked but willing to sacrifice as I do like the property (on the inside at least!)

Any advice would be appreciated for this single first time buyer!!

Thanks

I think you shouldn't have any problems in that area Chicago. My father has lived in North Sheilds and that area is quiet and residential. I looked myself in that area once around Alma Terrace and if a job hadn't come up down south I'd have bought it.

The pubs can be quite rough around the town centre so I wouldn't want to be close to the shops etc just for street noise but you are on the streets just outside that. Also the high street is a bit bleak but can be avoided. Wallsend and North Sheilds are getting some refurbishments too the next few years so it may well improve.

I like North Sheilds, I prefer it to Whitley Bay now. I suppose Tynemouth is the des res area but it is massivesly expensive!
