Best extractor fan for small bathroom, Piglet john?

Our current extractor fan in our downstairs bathroom doesn't clear much so want to splash out and get something more powerful.
The bathroom is downstairs at the end of a narrow extension so three external walls and a flat roof. It does have a window which we leave open and soon we will have underfloor heating. Recently got the walls and roof cavity insulated and have been warned the ventilation needs to improve now that it is insulated.

Current extractor is a cheap one in a wall vented straight outside, what would be the most recommended one to replace it with? I know ceiling ones are better but bit reluctant to put on in flat roof as will likely cause leaks and other problems knowing our luck.

Are these heat exchanging extractors much cop?

Sorry can't help you with the answer but I'm watching your thread as we need an extractor too. Our bathroom has three internal walls and the only external wall is fully tiled so the only way is a roof extractor. The attic is just above the bathroom but we don't have a flat roof.

If it goes straight through the wall, get a 150mm fan. It can be as powerful as a ducted fan. It needs a larger hole in the wall.

The problem with typical cheap 100mm bathroom fans is that they are too weedy.

For example have a look at www.tlc-direct.co.uk

If you have to core through a tiled wall I expect it will be worth it.

I would go for one that comes on with the light switch and has an overrun timer.

Don't put it directly above a bath or shower tray as the electrical safety requirements will then be more stringent.

We have one of the Airflow QuietAir ones in our shower room. It is really good and extremely quiet.
