walnut floor and worktop

I love the look of walnut coloured flooring and kitchen worktops. I'm trying to choose options that require minimal cleaning. I currently have black worktop and it never looks clean!

So does anybody have any experiences of walnut?

We have old oak floorboards so not walnut but we have black walnut worktops (used Osmo oil) and they look fabulous two years on from installation, we haven't re-treated and are not careful - quite the opposite.

I'd probably go for laminate that looks like walnut. I've got real oak now and I can't deal with the amount of scratches it's got!

walnut looks beautiful, i had a boen engineered floor of that in my flat, but it is a soft wood, so even dropping the car keys on it would mark the floor. high heels definitely no.

But what was it like for keeping clean? Did it show every mark? Did it look dusty?
I have dark wood bedroom furniture and it is a nightmare!
I will be getting laminate so marking isn't an issue. I'd not have real wood flooring again with pets and children.

i used a flash floor duster most days on it, and flash wooden floor wipes. it hid more marks than my current pale tiled floor! but it could look dusty, though those floor dusters were brilliant.

I work and have a toddler so want a low maintenance floor but love walnut.

Have a look at iroko, similarly dark wood, but harder and more moisture resistant. It's only just been fsc approved so not as popular yet but I think it's beautiful.

I'm not getting real wood but laminate...
Im wondering if the colour shows up dirt and dust..

We have both floor and worktop in walnut coloured laminate and they are fine to clean. Units are white gloss.

Thanks Dixiechick that's exactly the look I'm going for.
