So we sold our house- can I ask for a potential completion date?

Searches were both paid for about 10-14 days ago, mortgages in place. Our buyers are FTBS and have all paperwork on mine.
House we are buying is the end of the chain and empty.
I'd like to propose a date 4 weeks away. Anyone know if this is likely?!
We moved in the same kind of chain 15 years ago in 7 weeks...

Speak to your Estate Agent and solicitor and tell them the date you want to aim for.

It may not be the same one as your buyer if they've got to give notice on a rental, got a holiday booked, or any other reason, so you should start talking about dates to get an idea of whether it's realistic or not.

It's probably easiest to agree a completion date at exchange. Have a chat with your solicitor and ask what's delaying exchange. You can then set a target date for completion.

exchange comes first and you need to aim for this date as soon as possible as that is the time when both parties are legally tied to buy and sell. Suggest dates you would like to aim for but solicitors will not agree to definite completion dates until they get closer to exchange of contracts. On exchange of contracts the completion date will be in the contracts and cannot be moved without incurring huge losses.
