Moving in with partner

Would anyone be able to help me, my partner lives in a council property with his adult son, not claiming any benefits. I'm planning to move in with him soon when the lease on my place is up, what information would the council need? Would they need my payslips/proof of old address? Would his rent go up? Thanks!!

His tenancy agreement would be a good starting place - it should state what to do if he wants someone else to move in. If he is not claiming any benefits I don't imagine there will be any impact on the rent. They will probably want to at least name you on the rental agreement for their insurance purposes; private landlords would ask for that.

You could ring the council or housing association and, on a no names basis, ask what their policy is and what you need to consider and provide.
