Trifold doors on a North facing kitchen wall??

We're doing up the kitchen. I would like trifold doors, something like this but the wall is North facing. Am I cracked crazy? Will we freeze? I think they would be lovely, and was all set to go, until my sister dumped a bucket of ice cold water on my plan with a 'on a North-facing wall??' Said in a tone that suggested I had lost all reason.

Is she right?

Same here as we have a NW face rear garden and are having triple glazed bi folds along the whole back wall.

Having looked into it we decided that as long as they were triple glazed and having under floor heating put in that this would be absolutely fine, in fact as it is quite dull light in winter it should make the room much lighter.

We are also putting a roof lantern next to them in the ceiling which will capture the sun all afternoon as it sets.

Is your garden sunny at all? Ours is but only after midday.

You may want to get an opinion from somebody already who has them in a north facing wall though as my opinion is purely speculative at this moment!

Thanks Aesops.
That's really helpful. I won't totally exclude them yet!
The kitchen is really dark as it is, and we're putting in velux windows for light. But this wall (with the possible trifold door) really lends itself to a 'glass wall'. I was all gung-ho until dsis burst my bubble. The garden is sunny, (when the sun shines Grin ), just the wall gets no sun.

Hopefully someone will post on here who has them done to put both our minds at rest!

It is really important that we keep all cold out as our sofa is going right next to them Confused

Have you found a supplier yet? That in itself is a whole different ballgame with the top vs bottom hanging debate.

Oh no, you mean there are more decisions after I've decided yay or nay???Grin

We are only in the 'playing with design' phase. So, I haven't looked at suppliers etc. I say 'we' but really it's just me. DH gets weak, and his eyes glaze over when I start talking about the kitchen! I see there's a big thread on bifold doors here, will browse if I ever when I decide. Must start googling.
