Moving a Dishwasher?

Hi,

Has anyone relocated a dishwasher to a space slightly further away from the sink and therefore the plumbing?

We are just about to move into a new place and they currently have the dishwasher freestanding at the end of one of the worktops a space for an undercounted fridge. We'd like to put a tall fridge freezer at the end and move the dishwasher under the counter. It would be moving it about two cabinets along.

Is it possible to extend the current plumbing a bit further?

Had anyone done it? Is it a big/expensive job?

Thanks in advance. X

you might find that the current end flexible fittings will reach that far without any plumbing costs at all.

Have a look somewhere like espares - you may be able to simply add an extension to the waste hose and to the fill hose.

it is very easy, but to reduce the risk of leaks and floods, it would be better to extend the water pipe and the waste pipe rather than using hose extensions.

Hi all, thanks for the thoughts on this one.

John - Rather than run the risk of messing it up do you think it'd be a fairly cheap and quick thing to get a plumber in to extend the pipes?

Thanks. X

I had this done myself - it had to be plumbed in behind an oven too

Plumber came, did it all and some other jobs for about £120 including parts. Very reasonable.

That sounds fab Queen, that makes me feel more hopeful that I can move it all around!

We wanted to do this, but under the cubboard was not flat (an old pipe was in the floor) and the dishwasher would not fit in. The kick board prevented us from seeing what was underneath the cupboard! You probably won't have this problem if you can see the floor. We did get it sorted but it was not straightforward.
