Kitchen door handles and Floor Tiles

Hello. We're about to get a boring classic Shaker off white kitchen fitted from Howdens. I am really terrible with details and have picked some round handles which I think make it look dated. Can anyone recommend a better style and also somewhere that I can buy lovely handles for not much money.

Any suggestions for floor tiles would also be gratefully received. I was thinking of maybe going for a black and white chequered floor like this. Is this a bad idea? I am completely hopeless with these decisions.

Thanks for the reply. I'm a bit time poor and overwhelmed. I've tried looking on Houzz before but there's so much to look at.

Thanks for the suggestion of looking at the harvey jones thread too though now I want a kitchen I can't afford

What worktop have you chosen? Splash back? Sink/tap?

I quite like a mixture of cup type handles and round knobs like this.

Black and White tiles are a nightmare to keep clean. Do you definitely want tiles? They're very cold and hard...

Thanks for the replies. We have tiles at the moment which are a sort of marbled white and do get dirty especially with 2 cats. I don't mind them but the previous owner didn't tile all the way to the wall so we are replacing them. I also prefer that to our previous house which had black matt tiles which you couldn't see the dirt on so we neglected. We have lino in the dining room which is through an archway from the kitchen and it always seems a bit sticky. What would you suggest?

We're having a oak effect laminate worktops with upstands - the kind that is in strips if that makes sense. I like the wood look but we're too low maintenance for the real thing. I think it's a grey splashback behind the cooker but the whole process has been so drawn out I can't remember! I just picked things and thought I would finalise the details nearer the time. The sink is white ceramic which we might live to regret.

I do like the look of cup handles but I'm worried that they will be hard to keep clean (as in if I don't clean them for ages they will get gunky). I'm a bit drawn to bar handles as they are less fiddly but I'm not sure I like the look as much.
