LED downlights - built in or not?

We have just re-wired our entire house and hoping for some advice on LED downlights. Should we go for the simple led bulbs or would it be better to go for the built in LEDs that I've heard can last for 10 years but then require you to change the entire built in unit. The built in ones are obviously more expensive at the outset but are they worth it in the long run if they last 10 years? All advice gratefully received, thanks.

I have LED downlighters in the kitchen but they are two separate things, the unit and the bulb. As it was a kitchen they had to be fire rated. these are the ones we ordered. If the bulb ever dies we can just replace it. I don't know why you would want to have to replace an entire unit if the bulb ever died.

We also have Ikea lights and Ikea sell LED bulbs so we have these in our office and boy's bedrooms. They may not be to everyone's taste but at least I don't stress if they leave in on by accident.

Does that help at all?
