Hello all, I know their are plenty of discussions about moving into this area but they are quite old and i was hoping for some up to date info:)
We are looking for reasonably priced housing in a rural setting and a good Primary school as i have 2 kids, 1 starting juniors and the other Infants. We have no idea about where is a good place to settle and where to avoid, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I'm looking to move to the area too - don't have any advice for you I'm afraid, but will be following this thread as I'd be interested in the advice too!

Love Shenstone but it's probably on the expensive side nowadays as it has a railway station to get to Lichfield and Birmingham New Street.

I live in Lichfield itself so don't know a huge amount on areas outside of it.

Barton under Needwood, is just of the A38 between Lichfield and Burton on Trent, not sure on the primary school but the secondary school John Taylor has an really excellent reputation.

Whittington maybe another option, just on the outskirts of Lichfield but is a has a bit more of a village feel and has a good small primary and is in King Edwards, Lichfield catchment and houses tend to be a little bit more cheaper than properties in the King Edwards catchment area that are in Lichfield itself.

I think it depends what you mean by reasonably priced. Can you give an idea of budget?

I know a bit about here. Fradley and Whittington are a touch cheaper than Lichfield town but require an under 10 min car ride in. No idea about how good buses are.

I love Whittington, good school, co -op shop and nice pub. Very sweet looking village.

Fradley has a new estate and its huge, cheaper than Whittington. Some massive 1500sq ft houses on sale at the moment. In catchment for Friary secondary which is just a good as the King Edwards but people dont go as crazy for it. I think it falls into Chadsmead primary school catchment and there are some premium addresses/ sought after addresses in that catchment area. Fradley has canal walks too.

Alrewas? Think its in catchment for Burton on Trent schools so cant really comment. Lovely pubs, thatched houses on main street, take aways and lovely streets and canal paths to stroll around. Houses are cheaper than Lichfield. About under 15 min drive to lichfield depending on traffic.

Dsil used to live in Whittington. The kids still go to school there, it's a lovely village. She's moved to the London road area of Lichfield now.

Whittington is lovely but the villages are very cut off for teenagers to live, unless you like ferrying them around.
