Paint

We are painting our living room and dining room. Are any of the paints better or worse than others?

I've done a base coat in a basic white that was inexpensive at B&Q, and we are debating what to cover it in. We have two small DC who occasionally draw on the walls not allowed, but it happens occasionally. So we have debated the Dulux Endurance paint that is supposed to clean easily or cheap paint that we can just paint over any marks.

We need about 10L, so DH is thnking about the trade stuff available in10L buckets at B&Q, but it is limited in colour choice and I don't really want brilliant white.

B&Q has a Crown paint that is on sale for £10 this weekend which I know DH would be very keen on price-wise. Any experience with this?

Was warned off crown by a decorator. Didn't listen and regretted it, it was rubbish - poor coverage, didn't wear well. On the advice of other MNetters tried Valspar (from B&Q) and it has been brilliant. Can actually scrub it with a non scratch scourer. Amazing colour range - am a convert!

Have never had an issue with Crown or Dulux. We always use rollers for main application and brushes for cutting in. A paint sold as washable would be worthwhile with small children around.

If you go to a Dulux decorator centre or a paint shop that mixes Dulux, you can get the big buckets of trade paint mixed up in any colour your heart desires.
