Heating but no Hot Water

Just had my oven mended, and now tonight I have no hot water
It's a combi boiler, and I have heating but the water coming from the hot tap is Luke warm/cold
I can boil a kettle (rather have no water than no heat!) and DH is away unitil Monday,
Am I damaging the boiler by just having heating going, and is it a big job to get it mended?? clueless

Has someone turned the water temp down on the boiler?

CyclopsBee · 23/01/2015 21:19

No,temp setting for water is on 'high'

turn off the heating. Wait for the radiators to cool down noticeably. Now turn the hot tap full on. Do not turn the heating on.

  1. does the boiler fire?

  2. how hot is the hot tap water?

  3. feel the tops of the radiators, and their pipes. Have any of them started to warm up?

p.s.

you will not damage it.

Got a similar problem myself. Hot water on highest setting but not very hot.

I also have this problem! My boiler fires and with some fiddling I can get some hot water but only about a couple of minutes worth and then it goes lukewarm and then cold. It also affects the shower. However, the heating is OK. We have a combi boiler.

My lodgers just had this problem - it was the switching valve (zone valve) that was at fault and needed replacing. Quick, fairly easy (by a plumber of course!) and relatively cheap - it cost me £56.

No hot water out of taps when heating off. Heating is working fine
at work today so im not so worried but it Obviously needs attention!
Thanks everyone
