Really large bookcase

Almost floor to ceiling, and very wide bookcase needed. Has to fill half of a wall. Looking for suggestions. Hope you guys can come up with some...

Can a carpenter knock one up for you?

Billy with all of the extensions? Everyone seem to have them, we would but they were too deep. It's not too expensive to have a local carpenter make something bespoke IME.

We got one made. Or shelves?

i was gonna suggest the ikea billy as well, the big one is about 6ft tall and quite wide

What kind of budget? We have a very large 150 year old mahogany one we got from an antique dealer, but it cost about £3k. I do love it though!

I had a billy. Not cheap if you need a lot of space but look cheap, at least the finish we had. Get one made. Find local carpenters/joiners and get some quotes.

Look for old library bookcases on eBay. We have a similar problem, but no money at all. We had built ibs knocked up about four years ago, I don't like them but they were so expensive they have to stay :(

Don't forget that when they are full of books it's the books you'll see not the actual bookcase.

Have you looked on jali? They build made to measure furniture, think it's usually delivered in about 2 weeks.

You can do some amazing things with a billy

Our Billy collapsed under the weight of all the books. They're not very strong.
