Have baths got shallower or are we just unlucky?

we've recently replaced a 15-year-old bath. New one was bought online, so we couldn't sit in it, but it would never have occurred to me we might need to! (Didn't sit in old one before buying either - a bath's a bath, I thought)

New bath is, I reckon, 3-4" shallower than old bath - it's both lower, & on higher feet. we are all disappointed - you just can't wallow in this new one Sad

granted it will save a lot of hot water & bathroom hogging but is this a thing now (to save water maybe?)

not at all - our replacement bath is deeper but narrower, so uses less water for the same depth.

you need to check the profile (shown in the details) as baths are not all the same. We looked at some which had too-steep sides so you couldn't lean back comfortably. What's the point of that, we ask? There's a lot of form-over-function so much research is needed.

paid about £150 for ours with grab handles and all fittings, via a local merchant.

thanks, specialsubject Smile

ours is a P-shape & was part of a full bathroom package from an online retailer; I think it would have been about £200 individually but bath, side panel, shower screen, thermostatic bath/shower mixer, 800mm vanity unit with basin top & mixer tap, & loo with soft close seat, cost c £650 altogether & it's good quality stuff.

The back slopes at a good angle but it's flat - the old one was curved. I've just looked at the website again & they do a similar one with a curved back, but only in 1600 length which is too short for the space it's in, & it's narrower too. They don't have dimensions for all of them on the website.

(I'm getting used to it but the old one came up to my shoulder & the new one barely reaches my armpit... Sad)

It's 1700 long, 750 wide at the narrow end & 850 at the P end. The depth is about 340 narrow end, 375 P end. How deep is yours, out of interest?

erk....there's a question. I'll try and find the paperwork for accuracy and get back to you.

thank you! Thanks

(I had to measure mine - very approximately but it'll only be a very few mm out)

(I reckon the old one will have been around 400)
