Hi all

Can anyone give me any advice on a good brand / company to use for a composite front door? I have heard Rockdoor are the best but their prices also match so wondering if there is a sensible alternative?

Thanks!!

We had a Doorstop door fitted by a local company in the summer - very happy with it so far (old one was draughty)

It was about £750 (for the whole job)

I'll be watching this thread too as I am looking into composite doors but can't afford too much.

I want someone to come and measure for me so that website is not good (for me, shame as £750 is a great price!). I definitely don't want to have to do that myself as i'll probably mess it up.

the £750 was what the local (double-glazing) company charged for measuring, supplying & fitting - I wouldn't have known where to start either! It was a special offer but they've been advertising it as "for a limited time" for the best part of a year now.

Have a ring round window companies where you are to see if they deal with Doorstop - or maybe contact Doorstop & see if they can recommend a supplier near you?

A local double glazing company did ours, was really pleased. We had this type of style, got to choose the colour and glass. I love our door it looks great.

Ours is Victorian style, in Chartwell green, hungrycaterpillar (house is Victorian)(we have plastic windows too. I'm in Lancashire, we don't care about architectural purity Wink)

One of our neighbours has just got the same style in black.

They do look good & I love the idea of no more painting, ever

Don't go with Door Stop. I implore you. They are an awful company! Sorry TheOneWithTheNicestSmile but I had a terrible experience with them. Also avoid Yale Door (same company licensing the brand name of Yale) as their product is terrible and their customer service is appalling.

Shock

what was your experience, kamikami?

TheOneWiththeNicestSmile · 23/01/2015 16:51

(I didn't deal with them directly, the double glazing company did. They don't seem to have any problems with them)

Looking to install a Rockdoor. I live in the North West of England and you keep hearing of good and bad remarks from companies. I'very had ranges from £1800 to £2500 just for one door. This of which i cannot believe where this figure has come from Does anyone know of a trustworthy and fair priced company please. Jan

Rock door do three different levels of door with different thermal and security ratings. There is a range of extras from thresholds to door furniture so do make sure the quotes are like for like.

Where in the NW are you because a lot of firms only serve their local area.

KeepBadgering · 25/08/2015 14:43

My composite doors are from Eurocell (fitted by local family firm, not a conglomerate). Really please with them

The other thing you can do is get a good glazier - they can probably do doors - to order from the Rockdoor manufacturer: they are Manchester based and fit it for you. We did that. I have had to contact Rockdoor for some info recently and they have been brilliant.
