Glass or acrylic to use in picture frame.

I have a 60cm x 90cm frame for a picture I've had printed. I broke the glass moving it. Would those in the know order glass or acrylic to reglaze it? The frame is heavy and I thought acrylic would be lighter and cheaper to use, but don't want it to look naff. I'd be grateful for any advice.

We have used acrylic in various picture frames, including at the weekend. The only thing I would say in favour of glass is that acrylic is quite easy to damage before and during installation. We have a very long / narrow painting that we were "glazing" and in trying to manoeuvre the acrylic, it slipped and "landed" on a staple in the wooden frame. It has a tiny dink in it which isn't massively noticeable, although you can see it in certain lights, which obviously wouldn't have happened with glass. Having said that, to the untrained eye, you wouldn't notice the difference once it is on the way.
On the flip side, it makes the painting much lighter and therefore easier / safer to hang. So absolutely no help really
