How much did you pay for a domestic vehicle crossing? And is my driveway quote reasonable?

I am starting to look into getting a driveway done and we have had a quote of 3.5k for digging it all out and disposing, tarmac, building a wall and making sure it has proper drainage. This seems quite good to me.

However I know I need to pay separately for the council to drop the kerb and create a do estimated vehicle crossing. The only think I can find online is the £118 just to apply for it. I wanted a ballpark estimate of what sort of price will are looking at as I don't know if we can afford it at the moment.

What did you pay for yours? And does my quote seem reasonable?

I can't help on the drive, but I know our neighbour is paying just under a thousand pounds to the local council so they will drop the kerb.

You definitely need to check with your council. If there is a stopcock access point or similar on the pavement you want to drop, the cost will go up.

Some councils will offer a discount for people creating their first parking space if there are problems parking in the local area. Back in 2001 we got a 50% discount from the council as we were creating our first parking space on a street with parking issues and we had an 'approved' depth of front garden. I don't know if this is still the case though.

I think ours cost about £600-£700 up drop the kerb in 2013.

Yes. I also need to get written permission as it's an ex LA house.

£1500 to council in 2000. Depends on pavement etc as well as kerb.

I'm getting one jointly with next door neighbour. Initial non refundable application fee of £62 then about £1200 in total. Also ex la and no mention of planning permission for the drive I've just had made!

We do need planning permission as we are on a classified road. Plus our solicitor stated to us that we had to get written permission to do anything as it's ex LA, we aren't even allowed to put a wall up at the front of the front garden apparently. No, idea why and next door have got one, but technically we are suppose to get permission to even have a satellite dish and there is one and definitely no, permission was sought.

Our initial and non refundable fee for the survey of the site is £118 which is why, at the moment, I am not taking the advice by the man I am in email contact with to fill in the former and get them to survey the site for us. Because of their 6m rule between dropped kerbs it's looking like we can't get it done anyway.
