How to remove a grommit

The heavy snow last week broke my rear windscreen wiper off my car leaving the metal grommet behind.

I've ordered and received a new windscreen but can't remove the grommet.

Does anyone know of a way to remove it, other than using a hack-saw on it.

If you are talking about just the wiper arm/blade being sheared off , the connection is a nut holding it to the spindle of the motor. Most blades a little hinged plastic cover has to be lifted up at con corner to access the nut

You say windscreen ordered , don't get that. Do you mean ordered new blade and arm? State car model and make.

Should read most wiper arms held on by single nut ,and a plastic hinged cover lifts up to access the nut

The bottom of the receiver on the arm has a serration, if that is what you cannot get off, try gently levering it upward from underneath. A squirt of wd40 easing oil makes light of seized on bits and bobs . Leave for a couple of minutes after squirting the area, to soak in and make release easy

I didn't explain it very well.

The grommit is the one from the under the plastic cover on the arm. The snow broke all the plastic part of the arm off, leaving just the metal grommit behind. The bolt was left there too, but came off easily.

I'll try leavering it upwards from underneath tomorrow and use WD40 too. Thats seems like a good suggestion.

I took the car into the dealers and asked when it happened, they told me i needed the wiper and arm, and explained what had happened with the grommit. I wouldn't have known otherwise.

That bolt was the wiper motor shaft I do believe. So unless I am mistaken (photo would help) you will need a new wiper motor
I have never seen a wiper with a bolt holding it on in 50 years motoring. They all slide on to a shaft directly from the motor . The shaft does look like a bolt but is not. The serrated part of the arm is to help stop the nut from coming loose with the constant movement from the blade going from right to left

Just to clear it's only the nut that holds on the blade usually with the assistance of the spline/serration on the arm
So if you have a bolt in your hand it must be the motor shaft sheared off

You didn't say what make of vehicle

Hope it's some motor I have never encountered, let us know how you got on or I will be puzzling forever and ever, and could become a danger in the community as I go fixated into the towns and fields
I still have hair and don't want to stress the dog either, who is sitting looking at me banging the keys home

Hi its a toyota yaris.

I've got the complete new arm with the motor on.

Its definately the metal grommit off the arm, theres a hole in the old arm where it should be. The weight of the snow broke all the plastic arm off, leaving just the metal grommit that went on the shaft. The bolt was holding the arm onto the shaft, covered up by the plastic covering.
