Another leak... sigh

Hi, having solved my stopcock leak with the help of Piglet John last month (a big thanks PJ!), a new one has sprung up.

It's not the stopcock, as this is still dry, but the drips are coming from some sort of plastic protruding handle or pipe below the stopcock - see pics below. On the end it reads: "RWC 3 bar"

The drips are coming through a green bit of plastic underneath which appears to be some sort of button that you can push slightly down or up, but only very slightly. The water is coming out of the bottom of this green button.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this or will I need to get the plumber out this time? :-(

It appears to be a pressure reducing valve. Perhaps you live at the bottom of a valley where pressure in the mains is very high. The knob might turn to adjust pressure. If it is leaking it might be badly fitted, or could be worn out. There is no particular reason to expect it to leak.

Caleffi is a good brand of pressure reducing valve, they are all brass and can be obtained with a built-in pressure gauge. Unless you are fond of plumbing you will need a pro.

If the one you have is a cheap brand (I don't know) you could try a Caleffi next time. I think mine was installed in 1984. There are probably other good brands but they are not common round here.

It looks fairly new, you could try a warranty claim, but I doubt you have a receipt

Yes, having looked it up after posting it's a pressure reducing valve and sadly I don't have a receipt as I only moved into my flat 7 months ago (and the previous owners would not respond to my request for such a thing).

I accept I'll have to get a plumber in and perhaps you can advise me here. When I need work doing I usually advertise on Rated People but you can't always check workmen's credentials.

Do you know of a better way to find a decent, qualified plumber?
