Looking to buy my husband a book on all things DIY. We have a major house renovation looming and whilst he is a. Pretty great at DIY anyway and b. we will have builders doing the work, I just know he'll want to get stuck into things. I've heard good things about the readers digest DIY book, but wondered if anyone had a recommendation.

Thanks

I'd say the Readers Digest book. You can often pick up a second-hand copy, never opened, in charity shops. It comes in a big red ring-binder.

I have a Collins one, which is excellent.

My copy is rather old, though (has sections on how to rag-roll walls and lay crazy paving Hmm) but I expect there are up to date editions.

We did up an entire house from the Collins one. Is it an old or modern house? The Collins edition we had, covered lots of traditional things like how to paint a panelled door/strip floorboards/mend stairs etc as well as more modern stuff.
