So, thinking of possibly buying a new build house. And contemplating part exchange.

Please tell me the good and the bad. Any experiences would be most gratefully received. Thank you muchly.

We part exchanged earlier this yer. Weeks if negotiating and we didn't back down. They did in the end and love our new home. Wouldn't change it at all and very happy with what we paid/ got for our old house.

We did and are overall happy. Recommend getting an independent valuation of your house AND someone independent to check out the new build is ok.

Oooh, also DO NOT go with their 'recommended' solicitor no matter how cheap they seem. To many conflicts of interests there.

too

Usually a deal to be done if you push hard, carpets thrown in etc. Be sure to budget for all the stuff a new house doesn't have, loo roll holders, curtain poles, doorbells, light fittings, sheds, patios etc it really does add up!

We part exchanged into a new build, easiest house move ever. They paid full market value no quibble, and it was completed within a month. I love our new build, it's huge and really light & airy, not at all like the new builds of the 90's. Agree with above poster about setting aside money for toilet roll holders, towel rails, etc.

Wow! Thanks. I was expecting many more negatives.

I will get an independent valuation on ours first and not accept their first offer.

I have lived with no loo roll holder for years and only just had our bathroom re-done (including loo roll holder) so this makes me sad! Maybe I'll negotiate they put them in for me Grin
