Homebuyers survey advice

Our homebuyers survey is being done on Monday. Surveyor left me a voicemail yesterday saying that he wants to speak to me before the survey to see if there is anything in particular we want to be looked at/any particular concerns etc. the house is a 1930's(ish, not sure of exact age but going on style) 3 bed end of terrace. It's had the chimney stacks removed and has a single storey extension, so apart from highlighting that to the surveyor (but I'm guessing he will notice these things anyway) what else should I be asking?

Does anyone have any wisdom to share of things to look out for in this type of house?

Damp is usually an issue in 1930s houses, I would also ask him to look at the windows. If it has bay windows, the sticky out part is usually single brick thickness and can be prone to issues if the pointing is not maintained or any of the ridge tiles etc are loose. He might exclude the roof but if possible, get him to look at that too, particularly if chimney stacks have been removed.

make it clear to him that you don't want a report full of 'get a specialist to check'.

he doesn't test electrics although he should comment on condition. He doesn't do a gas safe check although he should comment on likely age of the installation. He should turn all taps, check for water pressure, look in the loft etc etc etc.

that's what you pay him for, so make sure he does it.

exclude the roof??? What kind of surveyor does that?

I just meant that usually a surveyor (only my experience so might be wrong) wont go up on the roof so they'll usually say something like 'a full inspection of the roof was not possible'.
