Ideally in brushed steel, quiet, vaguely industrial, to go over small (70cms) gas hob. Will be venting outside rather than a re-circulating one.

Hi Moonlight, you haven't been very clear about what type of extractor you want, but I have this telescopic Bosch one:

It is built in to a cupboard above the hob, is virtually invisible when not in use (just a strip of stainless metal at the base of the cupboard) can be ducted or recirculating, (mine is ducted to an outside wall) and you pull it out to switch it on. I am really pleased with it. It is not particularly quiet though......but I have yet to find an efficient one that is!

Thanks nooty - yes, should have said, no cupboards on that wall so can't do a telescoping one Sad do like the 'flatness' of that style though. Also, have re-measured, and it looks like we'd need closer to an 80/90cms too - will look at some of Bosch's other offerings if you find yours good.

An alternative to a chimney on a wall with no cupboards is to build out a plaster-boarded 'chimney' and then use a standard under canopy extractor. Paint the chimney the same colour as the wall, and it will disappear. See photos below

We've got a Siemens extractor now above our 90 cm induction hob and are very pleased with it. Our previous extractor was by Elica another brand worth looking at too.

Falmec do a simple steel extractor one called the Plane. Noise reduction variant available as well & they will custom make one if you have special requirements. They are more expensive than elica, I think, but more flexible. Elica do some beautiful extractor but they didn't have a high enough extraction for my space.

Thanks all - DH rather went and jumped the gun with this one (there go my 'sleek industrial-esque' lines Xmas Sad so hope this works as well as yours suze.

[Moonlight] This is the one we have and I'm delighted with it.
Sorry for lack of proper link as I'm on my phone and am not quite sure how to do them!

Thanks suze!
