anyone used them?

looking to get quartz. my very local stone merchants have quoted over 2k more than worktop.org for the same product, both include template and fitting.

is it the same product? what's the catch??

Will depend on brands each have quoted on
2k is still a great difference regardless of branding.
Quartz will all carry the same properties to an extent.

it was the same product, caeserstone jet black

Hmm. Can you find any reviews online? The installation is very important, you've got to make sure they can get that right.

sacbina · 12/12/2014 10:54

I have a vague memory of mners on here recommending both companies, so hoping they would read this

perhaps an evening bump

FWIW, I've found our local stone merchants in Fulham v expensive. My central kitchen island needs a granite top of 3 by 1.5m, plus it's going down both sides too, so I'm very keen on getting a good price. I've had fairly different quotes for the same stuff depending on both location and perceived poshness of merchant. I suggest some more comparative quoting for you! Are you in London?

Gozogozo · 12/12/2014 11:00

Affordable granite were recommended to me by two of my friends and quoted for me too. I had 5 quotes ranging from 2.1k to 3.2k for same colour/brand ie silestone. A G were second cheapest but still £400 more than cheapest. I think all but most expensive were silestone gold fabricators so able to get preferential prices from silestone. I can only guess that travel/delivery costs plus general busyness in the new year caused variation in prices. HTH

I'm in Ealing, and have had quotes from trading estate stone merchants, gold level supplier thingys, no posh kitchen suppliers for me.

the quote from a gold level supplier thingy was still way over anything online

Think there's a few suppliers in Croydon, worth a trip if you haven't already?

shanghaismog · 12/12/2014 12:09

We´ve just ordered some from Granite Solutions Direct in Slough. Haven´t had it fitted yet but they do all the brands and have been extremely helpful and easy to deal with. Amazing to see all the huge slabs waiting to be cut. Best price we could find.

I used Affordable Granite - I would highly recommend them. My neighbours used them as well.

Apatite1 · 13/12/2014 23:08

Must check out affordable granite myself then!

Gozogozo · 15/12/2014 18:37

I'll bump for OP...

Gozogozo · 03/01/2015 21:46

OP thought I'd let you know that I ordered from the marble workshop - seemed very professional and great price for silestone. I'm in Carshalton but they were happy to come out to me. HTH Smile

I also used Affordable Granite and was extremely pleased with the customer service and the product.
