Keep loo separate from bathroom?

I'm moving into a large apartment with two bathrooms, each without a loo, and two separate loos. Seems crazy to me. OK to have one loo separate as a guest loo, but I'd like to move the second loo into the bathroom, and repurpose the space thus freed up into e.g. a walk-in wardrobe. Now a friend tells me the property will be more saleable later on with separate loos as '99.9' percent of the population prefer it that way. Do they? I find it annoying having to go from one room to the other! Am I old fashioned? Will I be wasting money to move it?

PS I live alone with my 4yo DD.

We have one loo and one bathroom (separate). There are advantages but I'd be surprised if most people preferred it. Right now I'm feeling its not so great when your 6 year old son repeatedly 'forgets' to wash hands after using the loo. Easier to remember if the sink is in the same room (our loo is tiny, no room to put
a sink in, have to go next door to bathroom).

I agree. There is a small sink in each toilet but it's much less convivial for hand washing (very small sink, only cold water).

If you have another loo, then put Loo Two in the bathroom - much easier that way round!

I MUCH prefer separate loos.

All those people who flush without putting the seat down and then spraying their toothbrushes with whatever is in the bowl.... Vom.

Separate loo? Disgusting! You need to wash hands before you touch the door handle. I always close loo lid before flushing, so does everyone in my family.

You can have the best of both worlds, one separate and one all in one room - which I prefer anyway. No need for 2 separate ones. And I'd kill for more wardrobe space!

keep the separate loo,i have two teens and a primary,one of the teens baths for an hr at a time,we would just not manage without the loo being separate

I hate a bathroom without a loo. Seperate loos would put me off. I don't think I represent 0.01% of the population.

We live in a rented house with a seperate loo to the bathroom.

I have to admit when we moved in (only saw the house first time 5 minutes before removals arraived) I was a bit OMG - how odd!!

It took some getting used to - having to go nextdoor to the bathroom to wash hands but I have to say that now, I think I prefer it. We are due to move and our next house has a loo in the bathroom and I kind of feel a little dissapointed.

DH can stink out the loo to his heart content just before I have a bath and in our current set up - with a seperate loo, its not an issue.

I also have 2 teen daughters who spend a silly amount of time in the bathroom behind closed doors! I am thankful to still have access to the only other loo in the house.

Its not our house so improvements are not an option but I think the general concensus is that a seperate loo is old fashioned. For some reason most people prefer to shit next to their toothbrushes!! Grin (I was one of them before living here)

Definitely change it, so you keep one bathroom/separate loo and the other with a loo in the bathroom. Best of all worlds. Guest loo, loo less bathroom and family bathroom with loo.

Having a separate loo is v useful if only one loo. But if you have more than one bathroom with a loo in, then not so necessary. And personally, every time I'm about to get into the bath, I want to pee. Would be faff traipsing into other room to pee.

Hate the idea of a separate loo with no basin for hand washing.

If the advantage of having a loo next door is that you can still use the toilet when the bathroom is in use, where are people washing their hands? Do they go to the kitchen sink? Yuck.

Since you have two separate loos, I would definitely knock through.

We did but we used the space created to make a v large shower cubicle and we have a separate bath which is lovely. I hate showering in a bath, it's never the same.

If you only had one bathroom I'd say keep the loo separate but since you have two, definitely move Loo Two into the bathroom Smile

Same as others - I much prefer a separate one (with a small but functional sink) but since you have two, one can easily be a cupboard.
