(Really basic) question about decorating. Can anyone help?

Hi all

OK, another job on my to do list is to repaint where we have had new coving put up. The rooms are all decorated except areas like this (see photo).

Now, I know I need to fill holes and sand but do I need to put on a mist coat (or whatever they are called?) first before using the ceiling paint? Do I paint the ceiling then the wall?

Any advice gratefully received!

Yes to a mist coat. Yes ceilings usually painted before walls.

I have one of these rollers for the ceiling , stops a lot of drips. Mine is wider trough from home base . Don't think they do them now (not in my local branch)

Forgot to say I fix a extendable handle to mine, so no more stiff necks when doing ceilings Grin

Thanks to both of you.

I have 3 rooms to do and keep putting it off. So, should I do one room at a time do you think? The rooms are all different colours but the ceilings are all white.

Thanks again :)
