Any experience of the possible cost of getting someone to remove and disconnet gas cooker?

We are moving and the LL has said we have to remove the gas cooker, and remove it using a registered CORGI person.

Any idea what kind of cost we are looking at here?

CORGI went out a few years back. It is gas safe now, so that's already ringing alarm bells.

whose cooker is it? If it is the landlord's, it is his problem. I can only see this situation being valid if it is your cooker than you installed.

cost is only about £40 if you get a reasonable gas person - it is a five minute job. But that's not the point.

If it's a freestanding gas cooker (seems most likely if ll wants you to remove) it should just be a bayonet fitting to unplug.

yes, but if there is a problem with the fitting not shutting off, then you have what could be called an issue.

It only cost us about £30 to have ours capped off.

Yeah, get a gas engineer to do it. All they do is shut the gas tap off and be very pleased with themselves they've charged the mug punter to turn a tap off.

That happened to us a few years ago when we just wanted to move the gas cooker away from the back door and have it more central to the kitchen.

Anyway, if a 'Gas Safe' engineer is required to do it, so be it.

Why is the LL asking you to do this ? If you are not responsible for the cooker why are you paying ?
