Carpet fitting costs?

Anyone had a carpet fitted recently? No idea how much per sq metre I should expect to pay.

New carpet on stairs and landing was £40 to fit. Obviously carpet cost was much more! Recent quote to re - stretch existing carpet and cut to fit fire hearth is £88. Each carpet supplier seems to have slightly different fitting costs.
