Classy laminate worktops?

We have just bought this great 60s family home that needs updating everywhere. We had all kinds of plans but we suffered an unexpected financial setback right after moving in.

Anyway I need to do the kitchen on a shoestring.

I've bought a large used bulthaup kitchen for a steal on eBay. I love it actually, but the worktop can't be utilised. I wanted corian worktops and I've had a very good quote (live near a corian factory) but I've got to look for an even cheaper solution.

The units are blue grey matte. I fancy matte a white worktop would look great.

I notice bulthaup do use laminate, either very thin or thick, I am trying to see what is available locally. I would like a luxe look for less, and still fancy white, is there a (laminate) way? Any ideas please?
