Grohe Blue Filter Tap - More affordable version

I'm having a new kitchen in and decided (on basis of having really good Grohe taps in our bathroom) that the Grohe blue filter monobloc tap would be a good (and certainly not the most expensive) option. We live in a hardwater area and the tap water can taste unpleasant.

However as the costs for the overall project come in, I'm starting to get a bit nervous about the prospect of paying about £400/500 for the initial outlay and c£150 every year for the 600l replacement filters.

Can anyone recommend an alternative filter tap that is going to do a good job please? Or perhaps can anyone tell me if its possible to fit a generic branded filter carteridge to the Grohe blue, so at least the running costs could be brought down a bit. Thank you!
