Hot water problems

I'm posting here in the hope that PigletJohn (or someone equally helpful ) will be able to help.

Our hot water tap in the kitchen is not working, a tiny trickle comes out if it's turned on low but if you turn it right on it stops completely. Cold water tap working fine although pressure seems a bit low. Upstairs HW taps working fine.

We had our boiler system moved into the loft and a new Intergas boiler fitted last year. Since then we've had two of the downstairs rads off for some months while the walls were re plastered. They're now back on but while they were off the pressure kept dropping in the boiler and needed to be topped up. Is if likely to be an airlock in the system that's causing the issue with the HW taps?

does water gush cheerfully out of the bathroom taps?

Does your tap have a capstan that rotates several times, or a knob or lever that moves only a quarter of a turn?

p.s.

It will not be an air lock, assuming you have a combi boiler and not a blue hot water cylinder.

However you do need to find and rectify the leak. Start by looking at the pressure relief pipe that comes out of the back of the boiler and goes through the wall. Is it dripping?

Yes water pressure fine upstairs from hot tap.

Kitchen taps are separate hot and cold ones, very basic ones that you rotate round to turn on/off.

I will ask husband to get the ladders out and check when it's not dark. Thanks again for your help

The washer or jumper inside the tap is worn, broken, or has come off the spindle. If you know how to rewasher a tap, take it apart and mend it.
