Making good when you move, to what extent?

Hi, hopefully completing next week and little time between exchange and completion so trying to get organised. We have some pictures to take down, should we fill the holes from the nails or just leave the nails in? The same with some shelves we are taking down in a couple of rooms, hubby has left the metal raw plugs in the walks and is worried if he removes these and tries to fill it will look even worse. The main reason being we don't have any paint in the room colour and no idea what it is. It's a child's room so is going to be left with animal stickers and florescent stars anyway as they can't be removed!

Don't bother. They'll have to redecorate anyway and it's sometimes nice to be able to bung a couple of your own pictures up immediately. Buyers just expect it to be reasonably clean.

leave the nails/picture hooks in - it is good to be able to hang a few pictures even if only to get them out of the way.

assuming that taking the shelves was in the fixtures and fittings - again, just leave it.

new house = redecoration. Half the fun!

For me the biggest thing when moving somewhere new is that it is clean, properly clean. There is nothing more exhausting after all the rigmarole of packing and moving than finding you cannot unpack until things have been cleaned.

It will be clean, always is so will just need to Hoover and dust skirtings as we clear rooms on the day. It's the only room where shelves are coming down, all others and curtain poles and blinds are staying. It's a mature lady on her own so she's going to need to decorate our DS' room unless she likes the animals and stars!

metal wall plugs suggests plasterboard. Possibly they will screw out.

With the more common plastic plugs, don't try to pull them out as they will damage the plaster. Punch them slightly below the surface and fill the depression.

A good way to punch in plasplugs is to put a screw in by a couple of turns and tap the head lightly with a small hammer. Once the plasplug is below the surface, unscrew the screw. This is also the best way to install plugs when new, as it reduces cracking of plaster.

Thanks, they are metal and all very neat holes. My husband is concerned if he takes then out some of the wall will come with them(from previous experience ) leaving a bigger hole to be filled and sanded (which we can do) but we don't have any paint of that colour so it will probably look worse than it does now!
