Rare example of making modern and old work!

That's brilliant. Absolutely wonderful to see a building like this being rescued. I used to work for a conservation architect, it was my dream job.

Louise - lucky you.

That to me is a 'proper' Grand Design, rather than the whole 'chuck a box somewhere on house, full wall of windows, make downstairs open plan etc., etc., bring Kev in to call it 'innovative' (through gritted teeth) tediousness that tends to go on nowadays.

Off to see if I can find more to drool over (also, know where I might try and hire for a week-end next summer. Grin)

Oh, that is so beautiful!

Moonlight we all used to watch Grand Designs avidly and Kevin was actually very highly thought of by most of the architects. I think some of the stuff on that programme is amazing but yes some of it is - shall we say - not to my taste.

This building, however, is very much to my taste. I wish i was rich.

Me too - but the prices are pretty good for staying there, particularly with a full house.

KMcC always comes across as a good friend to have in a corner. Tells it like it is, but nicely.

OK, not a house but still pretty 'wow'

Also nice to see somewhere actually building a new library!

It is astonishing and was rightly nominated for a bucketload of awards last year.

I totally love it!
