Hi everyone I'm quite new in mums net
My question is can you tell me anything about st Mary cray area
We are planning to by a house there is it safe is it quite and peaceful are to live in

I don't think it is as safe as it used to be. The meadows are lovely to walk around and my kids have lots of happy memories with grandparents there. I would visit at different times of day and evening to see what you think.

Thanks we are looking for house near the station, it looks alright there but not sure about the area

Personally I wouldnt live there at all. The schools are mediocre(sp?) and the area is quite run down. In saftey aspect i couldnt tell you but there are defo better places arouns that area to love. Avoid both st marys and st pauls cray.

I will not recommend St Mary Cray. The area is not safe for you and your child. You should consider another area.

It is one of the more deprived and less safe areas of Orpington. But that’s relative — it’s safer than some areas of Bromley. Because the area is theoretically less desirable it is more easily affordable for young families, and more young families buy there as a result. Of course some areas even within St Mary Cray are more desirable than others. Wander round, get a feel for the place, look up police crime reports. See how you feel.
