Dishwasher lead too short!

Dim question I'm sure - our dishwasher packed up so we bought a new one on eBay. Works fine except to fit it properly in the unit we need the lead to be longer - can you buy new leads and wire them in yourself, or can you extend the existing lead? Tia.

Surely just plug it into an extension cable (someone will probably be along in a minute to say that it's not safe)

Best idea is to get an electrician to lengthen the lead. Should be fairly straight forward for them.

Thanks for the answers. I don't think there is room (width wise) for an extension lead, will speak to an electrician thanks.

Have you googled it? Someone may have made a youtube video. I'd have thought it quite straightforward. Why not ask at a local hardware shop (if you have one). Just saying that because in my experience electricians are expensive.
