We are re-doing utility room as prelude to full kitchen ... Been looking at kitchens today. Both DH and I like wood-look, either oak or walnut. But, if cupboards are wooden then worktops always seem to be granite-look or similar, and if worktop is wooden then cupboards are white / ivory. Is wooden cupboards and worktop just too much?? And if we want a wooden kitchen, which has more impact, cupboard doors or worktop?
Also if utility is adjacent room does it need to be same units and worktops as kitchen? Am thinking it would be more consistent if it was the same but am torn as I think high-gloss in the utility might look good with washing machine etc. Or, will it just attract dirt and be the bane of my life a few months down the line?? (Am thinking similar with regard to ivory/white kitchen cupboards and plinths ... will they just end up looking dirty??) Maybe wooden cupboards and light granite worktop is actually easier cleaning-wise?
