Horrible stink in the kitchen

DH has moved the washing machine that was in the kitchen and put our fridge in the hole because we have a washer dryer in the bathroom

I noticed a faint whiff of drains the other day and its getting stronger. What could it be? DH is claiming not to be able to smell it, it flaming stinks so I don't know how.

At least it's helping my diet...

Did you cap the pipe that the washing machine used to empty it's water into? Don't know what it's called but there will be stink if it's open.

He capped something, because he made a song and dance about getting the right bit. I've investigated and the whiff seems to be coming from the mess of pipes under the sink.

We used to have a Hotpoint fridge that had a drip tray at the back (on the outside). Took ages to work out where the smell was coming from, it was full of stagnant water that hadn't evaporated. Miight be worth checking.
