room dividers - top hung or bottom rail

looking to install a 3 door panel, with either 2 bifold and 1 opening, or all 3 folding in one direction. there will be different floor coverings between two areas, existing carpet and tile in new extension

is it better to have top hung only, or have a bottom rail too.

have two small dc if that matters. not sure yet if doors will be open or closed all the time until we start living in it.

If you have young DC then definitely have a bottom rail. Top hung won't stand up to the robust crashing around normal for my DC.

sounds like its not so rigid without a bottom rail. which with my ds it needs to be.

don't seem to be many with a bottom rail, unless I'm looking in the wrong place

Definitely top hung as recommended by all builders I've spoken to.

Just to add my PIL have top hung doors and it's survives my 2 DC.

Does it make soundproofing better if bottom rail also?
