£1500 for 3 sliding wardrobe doors?..

Does this sound a lot.

DD has fitted wardrobes in her room and I would like to change them to sliding mirrored doors. The main carcass is fine, it is a case of putting a track across the top and bottom and one end piece on and the sliding doors.

Am pretty rubbish at value for money and normally would just say to get it done but am trying to be a bit more savvy (shopping at Aldi etc) as am not going back to work after maternity leave so have less disposable income.

Have a look at these guys.

I've just ordered two wooden sliding doors from them, including frames, for 300. Caveat is that they've yet to arrive, although I've had samples and the materials look fine, but they've given great service so far.

Ikea do sliding doors and the tracks. You might have to replace the carcasses though. We've been v happy with the quality and I'm pretty fussy Grin

Not sure of the age of your DD but if she still has toddlerdom to go, do seriously consider if :

  1. You can live with permanent smears all over the mirrors, no matter how often you polish
  1. Games of hide and seek/dens/secret clubs involving hiding in the wardrobes would result in the gliders never being properly aligned, and the doors not then being capable of being opened by a child

And yes, that advice does come from bitter experience!! (Though our mirrored sliding doors came with the house and may not have been of the highest quality - and have now thankfully been removed!)

Yes I think it's a lot. I bought 3 standard sized sliding mirrored wardrobe doors from B & Q earlier this year for 300 pounds. The quality is good and we fitted them ourselves. They look fab.

Rift then chaps. V v expensive it seems.

No sliding doors for a while then.

Maybe give it a couple of years until dd at least 3 and then get the whole lot done or some nice free standing ones.
