How to make French doors more secure?

We have French doors from the kitchen to the garden - I do like them but am starting to get worried after break-ins locally.

How can I make them more secure, any ideas?

We've had a sensor put onto ours with ADT. If anyone smashes the glass or there's a heavy impact to the door it will set off the house alarm.

Wood or plastic?

Sorry, should have said they're plastic.

We're getting an alarm installed, so will make sure it covers the French doors as well.

If a burglar really wants to get in they will, the idea is to make it difficult more time consuming so they move on. If it's plastic you could get a bolt fitted to the first to open door. I am assuming you have plastic whereby one door has to be opened before the second will . Having a light on outside is another thing that would help to put them off. Or a light on in the kitchen, maybe on a time switch. Or as I have a very aggressive jack Russel, who at any sound outside barks his a@@se off
