builder has botched render: patch or redo?

Hi all,

Our builder went away for a bit and in his absence his son and other guys did the rendering. It looks horrendous. The finish is a mess, patchy, pockmarked and you can hear hollow bits when you tap.

When the builder returned he was horrified and said, don't worry, I'll get the boys to patch it at their cost. When we took a look in daylight we decided we wanted the whole thing redoing and when we next raised it, the builder said they would hack it off and re-render.

They have been on site this week and patched it. The builder said he had used some product called SBS and it will all look fine when they put on another coat.

I'm not convinced. Do we accept this or insist they redo it?

Thanks!

My understanding from our builder is that you can't patch render as over time it will crack and fall off. This has been our experience with our patch job in our bay window... Sorry.
