We have oak veneer internal doors fitted a couple of days ago and they treating as mucky finger marks are starting to occur. I'll need to do it myself as funds are v low. On my wooden kitchen worktop i use an oil called Sadolin which I think is very good. Would this be OK? Some people say varnish is more appropriate. I'm confused.

The instructions usually say do not use oil or wax on veneered doors.

So use satin or matt Diamond varnish (not gloss which looks horrid).

Yes Piglet I'll come clean- the manufacturers said to use varnish, but not satin. I'll check out the matt Diamond varnish. Do you know why oil is a bad idea?

No, but maybe it attacks the glue that holds the veneer on.
