Dark paint in downstairs loo?

The cloakroom is off the hall painted Strong White (grey white) but I'm thinking of being brave. It's not a particularly light room.
Lamp Room grey or Hague blue maybe.
I'd keep the ceilings trade white, the floor is beige neutral tiles.
There is a small window that will need a blind.
Will it look chic and contemporary or like a cave?

Mine is Eating Room Red with (I think) Matchstick woodwork and a wooden blind. It's off a Gesso (Fired Earth) hall, and I love it. It's very dark anyway with a slate floor and it just looked washed out and dull in a paler colour. Nothing cave-like about it at all.

Lamp Room Grey goes green if you have the hint of any sort of greenery outside the window - I'm on a green battle in my house because we live in a wood and it seems to make every colour inside it turn green. Hague Blue is lovely.

Thanks Badgers I totally understand the green battle . Pavillion grey, French Grey even Blue Grey all give my house that green tinge.
Might try Hague Blue.

I nearly did it and packed up after one wall and did a million recoats to bring it light again

it just couldn't deal with the colour.

Do it. It is such a small room to repaint if you don't like it.

If your floor is beige I'd check that blues and greens won't bring out any yellowy-orangey-pink tones.

Have been off to get testers. Hague Blue is very dark. Lamp Room Grey has a greeny tinge.
Purbeck Stone is a nice possibly dullcolour.

Have you thought an aubergine colour, I think they look good with Gesso.

Try F&B Brinjal or Little Greene Adventurer or Fired Earth Dragons Blood...

It's a lovely idea - no point trying to make a small room look bigger, it never will, might as well do it a lovely rich jewel colour. We've got Craig & Rose French Turquoise with a swanky light fitting and it looks fab.

FE Carbon Blue is a good alternative to Hague Blue - it's slightly more grey toned and though deep, is somehow still not dark.

our teeny weeny downstairs loo (with no window) in our last house was dark olivey green - was v nice.

(We didn't paint it, the previous owners did - we liked it and left it)

A teeny loo is a teeny loo - regardless of what colour you paint it I think they look great in strong colours or with whacky wallpaper.

For dramatic dark colours, we have Fired Earth dragon's blood in one of our rooms - it's the perfect burgundy, if that's what you're after.

We have just painted teeny tiny understairs loo a lovely dark blue - matches dulux breton blue - www.dulux.co.uk/shop/colour/breton_blue. As as already been said, no point trying to make it look bigger. Go for it!

ohhelp, I'm laughing because my DH says that about dark grey mutters about living in a cave.
